11 REASONS TO ADD TAX PROBLEM RESOLUTION TO YOUR LAW PRACTICE

1.     Tax Problem Resolution is a lucrative area of law to practice.  People who are under threat of imminent collection are willing to pay good fees to have you settle their problems.

2.     There is not much competition for the cases.  Most Attorneys do not represent clients in this area of law.  They must believe that it is too difficult or that you must know the Tax Code inside and out to handle matters in this area of law.

3.     A Tax Resolution practice and a Bankruptcy practice go hand in hand.  Many times we have had potential clients come to our office and tell us about their financial problems and their tax problems.  They might have thought they needed Bankruptcy, when what they really needed is an Offer in Compromise or other type of tax relief.  Or they might need both Tax Relief and Bankruptcy.  Or they come to our office believing they need an OIC, when what they really need is Bankruptcy.

4.     People with tax problems often have debt problems.  They need solutions for both.  Often just offering Bankruptcy services is not enough to solve their problems.

5.     You will be able to give better advice to your clients.  Knowing how to solve tax problems will make you a better Bankruptcy Attorney.  You will know whether a particular client needs, for example, a Chapter 13 or an Offer in Compromise.  You will have a wider range of services to offer clients  to solve their problems.

6.     You will be able to provide more services to your clients.  On many occasions we have done a Bankruptcy for a client then followed it up with an Offer in Compromise or some other form of Tax Problem resolution.

7.     Your marketing can be designed to  produce both Bankruptcy and Tax Resolution clients without doubling the cost.  There are many ways to accomplish dual marketing.  Our office uses a theme of: TAX PROBLEMS? DEBT PROBLEMS?  WE CAN HELP!  Our marketing is effective to generate clients for both areas of practice.

8.     You will generate other types of business from your Tax Problem practice.  For example, our office often forms business entities for our clients.  Many of our small business clients need to form corporations or LLC's.  We generate revenue helping them.

9.     You can become the "Go To" expert for Tax Problem Resolution matters in your area.  By getting the word out to Attorneys and Accountants in your area, you can get regular referrals.  Most Attorneys and Accountants don't know how to represent clients with tax problems and are happy to have someone to refer these matters to.

10.     Tax Problem Resolution is not a difficult area of law to learn.  You will be dealing with IRS employees in most cases rather than Bankruptcy Judges.  (Maybe that is reason enough right there to add this area of law to your practice.)

11.     You can provide a real service to people.  Some of my most satisfying moments have been solving tax problems for people and small businesses.  It can be almost as satisfying as having a Bankruptcy Judge in a Chapter 11 case say: "The plan will be confirmed"  You really can make a difference in your clients lives.
